Day 3 of Phuket Trip

Monday – Our first training day. We manage to get up early enough for our breakfast, a lite on tough and we head to the training area to get some warm up. We went for a short run too, skip some rope and we started our training with 3 rounds of shadow boxing. In between rounds, we have to do push ups or sit ups and when the 3 rounds is over, we head to our respective ring designated my one of the trainer. I was paired up with Finn – the brother of Tuk (owner of Rawai Muay Thai) to do sparing. Finn is really good! Then again, this guys train since young. He thought me some technique like “fake kick” during the sparring. These technique is very useful during a fight – then again I’m not sure if I’m ever going to fight.The sparring lasted 5 rounds of 5 mins follow by push ups or sit ups in between rounds.
After 5 rounds of sparring, I get to the bag for another 5 rounds of bag work and drills. When the bag work is over, We gather at the mat area for more technique training and demo. We were being paired up again but this time are student and student (not trainer) for the practical part of the technique. After technique training, we were ask to do Left, Right push kick for 3 mins and 3 more mins of Left, Right knee. Before finishing the morning session, the last thing was 150 sit ups.
After the morning session, we headed back to our room, get some more food, wash up and we are all set to explore the island again. The usual, we get our bike and ride around the island trying to find a beautiful and quiet Nai Harn beach but we still have no luck. We headed back to our room to take a short nap before the afternoon session.
The afternoon session are pretty much the same as the morning one, just that there is no sparring. Only pad work and bag work and of cause the cliching. This is the first time I learn to clinch. It’s very interesting but very tough. I almost gave up as my trainer (Wud is his name) is so strong and it’s almost impossible to take him down. He tought me a lot of clinch technique and after, I’m so exhausted for the clinch.
After the noon training, we wash up again and had our dinner at our room. We then went to a local night market for a walk and check out some local snack. We also go to Tesco Lotus to buy more fruits for breakfast.
As we both are tired from the training, we headed back and turn in early. Tomorrow will be another day of training.
